Dancing Order of the Day—W.R. Payne Passed Away

  • Miss Nettie Meredith is home for the holidays.
  • Snow is all gone and mud has taken its place, much to the regret of all.
  • Zamloch, the Magician, skipped out last Monday morning for reasons unknown, failing to fill his engagements here. No loss to the community.
  • Exercises were held at the Presbyterian chapel on Friday evening. A Christmas tree, being a prominent feature, on which was a present for each of their school children.
  • Dancing is now the order of the day, or rather of the night.  On Saturday evening, there were two.  One tomorrow evening and invitations are out for a Grand Leap Year ball to be given at the Music hall next Wednesday evening. Gotten
    Although it is a season of rejoicing yet, some in our midst are called, upon to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. Last Thursday afternoon, one of our oldest settlers, Wm. Payne, passed peacefully away after an illness of about a week.  Mr. Payne came from England to this country in 1843 and since 1850, he has been a resident of Kaysville and vicinity.  He was widely known, and very much respected. Funeral services were held this morning at the Tabernacle in which quite a number of speakers expressed the good will they felt for Brother Payne and
