Kaysville Kinks

• Kaysville was well represented at Syracuse yesterday.
• Dr. Hodges was up from Salt Lake on professional business last Tuesday.
• Threshing machines have commenced work, and the amount of grain that will be “pounded out” in the next three weeks would astonish those not acquainted with the magnitude of the farming industry in the north part of Davis county.
• George Swan jr., and party returned from their fishing trip last Monday evening, laden with the trophies of their skill.  During their week’s absence Judge Phillips caught 150, George Swan 143 and K. W. Barnes about 60 fish.  We think Kaysville can carry off the prize for good fishers.
• The farmers are jubilant over their unusually large yield of grain.  The crops are not however, so abundant that the price of grain will be seriously diminished, and the farmers should by all means hold their grain until they can get a price for it that will reasonably compensate them for the labor expended in producing it.
• O. A. Taylor returned from his pleasure trip to the coast last Wednesday. He was away from home fifteen, days during which time he visited the principal cities of Idaho, Oregon, Washington and California, viewing the sights in Portland, San Francisco, and other large cities on the route. He says that although Oregon has some beautiful scenery and California is a magnificent garden spot, the climate and productions of Utah still remain unexcelled, and after he has viewcd the wild scenery of ths Sierras and the sublime tranquility of the Pacific, he feels like echoing the sentiments of the immortal Bishop—“There is no place like home.  K.
